Shopping and Convenience

  • Everyday conveniences are less than five minutes from The Farms on Brawley School Road. And, just a few minutes more is Winslow Bay Commons and other shopping centers on Hwy. 150. Winslow Bay Commons is a 255,000-square-foot center with anchor stores Dick's Sporting Goods and Linens 'N Things and others such as Caribou Coffee and a host of restaurants. A SuperTarget and Wal-Mart Supercenter are close by and surrounded by even more shopping conveniences.
  • Great restaurants are all around the area ... residents at The Farms are more than happy to share their favorite. The Prickly Pear in downtown Mooresville, Kudzu's in downtown Davidson, Mickey & Mooch in Huntersville and several locally owned seafood restaurants are all popular area eateries.
  • The open-air Birkdale Village in Huntersville offers a Barnes & Noble, Williams Sonoma, Talbots, Banana Republic, Dick’s Sporting Goods, plus an assortment of fine and casual restaurants.
  • Northlake Mall in north Charlotte features more than 150 stores and a 15-screen movie theater. The Northlake development will eventually expand to include NorthCrest, a 365,000-square-foot, open-air mall.
  • The Farms is close to other shopping destinations such as Concord Mills, which offers more than 200 stores and a 24-screen movie theater, and SouthPark mall, which features high-end stores including Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and kate spade. Neiman Marcus and other top-drawer retailers will open this summer.

Arts, Culture and Entertainment
From The Farms, you can explore the historic downtown areas of Mooresville and Davidson. And, the Davidson College activities calendar is chock full of cultural and sports activities open to the public.

  • When residents of The Farms are ready for a day on the lake, the Lake Norman area offers a variety of public boat launches. The closest is Hagar’s Creek, just five minutes from The Farms.
  • Whether you’re water skiing, sailing or canoeing, Lake Norman easily accommodates most water activities with a surface area of 32,510 acres.
  • If you love fishing, you’ll be right at home on Lake Norman. You’ll find a variety of blue catfish, carp, largemouth bass, perch, rainbow trout, walleye and yellow bullhead.
  • Plan a family trip to Lake Norman State Park, where you’ll enjoy waterfront trails, a 33-acre lake, and areas for camping, picnicking and swimming.

Mooresville Area

  • You can choose from Mooresville’s 10 public parks, including Bellingham Park with 47 acres of walking and bike trails, a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits and a playground.
  • The new Lowe's YMCA offer a wide array of exercise equipment and classes, as well as children’s after-school activities and youth sports.
  • The Farms offers many recreation opportunities, and the Brawley Area Youth Athletic Association and Mooresville Recreation and Parks Department increases the fun with sports leagues, camps and programs for different age groups.
  • The Lazy 5 Ranch offers a 3.5-mile safari through the rolling land of the Piedmont. Visitors can see more than 750 animals from six different continents.
  • Queen's Landing is a few minutes from The Point on Hwy. 150 and offers a day full of summer fun. Visitors can take a dinner cruise on the Catawba Queen, play miniature golf and other games at the amusement park and dine at Saragoni's Lakeside Restaurant & Bar or BJ Duck's Deli.
  • In nearby China Grove is Patterson Farm, where you can pick up fresh fruits and vegetables (they're known for their strawberries and tomatoes) and even plan gatherings with hayrides and picnics.

Health Care and Emergency Response
The Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and the adjoining Medical Pavilion at Lake Norman provide comprehensive health care just 15 minutes from The Farms, including:

  • Diagnostic Imaging Department
  • Lake Norman Home Health
  • The Surgical Center at Lake Norman
  • Lake Norman Rehabilitation Center

Located off I-77 at exit 33 (the same exit as The Farms), Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health care Organizations (JCAHO) and is a member of the North Carolina Hospital Association and the Federation of American Health Systems.

A fire and rescue station and sheriff’s office substation are located on Brawley School Road, a short distance from The Farms.

Taxes
Residents of The Farms enjoy the lower tax rate of Iredell County. Annual real estate property taxes in The Farms are an estimated 40 percent lower than those of similar property in Mecklenburg County. (These figures are subject to change without notice.)
