The Farms Welcomes its 200th Family

The Lamb Family

John and Jennifer Lamb and their daughter, Audrey, are the 200th family to move into a home at The Farms. It’s an exciting milestone for The Farms, and the Lamb family couldn’t be more pleased with their new home.

“We like our new house at The Farms because it feels like a lodge,” says Jennifer, a critical care nurse at Carolinas Medical Center-University. “The cedar shake exterior reminds us of a lodge in the mountains. It’s like we’re on vacation.”

Originally from the Northeast, the Lambs wanted to make an investment that would count. The family decided to upgrade from their previous home in the Highland Creek community in Mecklenburg County. After searching the Internet for homes in the area, The Farms caught their attention.

“I found directions online to The Farms, and one Saturday I just drove up there by myself to look around,” says John, division vice president for Maritz Inc. “I really liked the style and the architecture of the homes. The next day I took Jennifer, Audrey and my mother-in-law, and they fell in love with the homes.”

Iredell County’s lower property taxes and top-notch schools appealed to the family as well. The number of children living in The Farms was also a plus for 11-year-old Audrey. But what impressed the Lambs the most was the neighborhood feel mixed in with the privacy that the homesites offer. The family’s new home, built by Strom Construction, Inc., sits on a quiet one-acre cul-de-sac homesite.

“One of the reasons we chose The Farms is because we like that most of the homes are on an acre lot,” says Jennifer. “We have neighbors, but there is privacy, too. I love the back yard. It’s probably my favorite feature because it’s very private and wooded.”

The Lambs are excited that they found the best of both worlds at The Farms, and they are even more excited about their new home.

“It looks so different from anything else we’ve seen, very unique,” says John. “It was just … us.”

Water Fast Facts
The average American uses 1,600 cups of water each day, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Here are a few easy steps you can take in your daily life when it comes to conserving water:

  • When cooking, peel and clean vegetables in a large bowl of water instead of under running water. Only use the garbage disposal when necessary (composting is a great alternative).
  • When mowing your lawn, set the mower blades to 2-3 inches high. Longer grass shades the soil, improving moisture retention, and has more leaf surface to take in sunlight, allowing it to grow thicker and develop a deeper root system. This helps grass survive drought, tolerate insect damage and fend off disease.
